Your Fitness Lifestyle: It’s Not A Kind Of Magic, Just The Simple Stuff
With the health and fitness industry, people will always look to offer you the next quick fix, the next magic solution or a product that will change your life. That product already exists, and all it is…is you. All that’s standing in the way of your next fitness goal, lifestyle change or journey is you. Now overcoming ourselves, to push the proverbial boat out, isn’t easy. But there are no shortcuts – we just have to navigate that road in the best way that works for us. And that take time and effort. Often it isn’t easy, but I guarantee, it will be so rewarding.
Like with goal setting, start small and start realistic in making lifestyle changes. You may have all the drive in the world, which is great, but if you try and do everything at once you may find you stretch yourself too thin. Focus on one thing at a time and apply that drive to that, and imagine where you could end up. You’ll end up learning so much, even from your mistakes.
The key thing is consistency. That grind and repetition - day in and day out - is crucial, even for the most mundane of tasks for your fitness lifestyle. No one became a professional athlete without creating habits and rituals for each and every day. Without the hard work and the graft, there’s no reward at the end of the tunnel, just the next tunnel! That journey is the part that is the biggest reward of all, especially when you get to do new things, meet new people and push yourself along the way! Why would you want to take a shortcut and miss out on all of that?
Enjoy your fitness, have fun with it and make it work for you. Find things you love to do and create a training regime around it. It may not be orthodox, it may not be conventional, but then in life – what’s fun that is? Feel free to tear up the rulebook, as long as it makes you happy, and keeps you on track for getting where you want to go!
Social media can be a tough place when trying to establish a fitness lifestyle of your own. Whilst there are some incredible people doing inspirational work for a lot of people, fitness-wise, it can be very noisy and hard to process fact from fiction. Take care and find comfort in the things you love about your social media. Take a break once in a while, and try not to take things too seriously! You can also engage in meditation to calm your brain down. But meditation doesn’t have to be meditation in the strict sense; it could be playing video games, it could be listening to music, watching a film or breath work or yoga practice or whatever you want it to be, as long as your mind is clear and focused on you!
When cultivating your own fitness lifestyle, put the work in, perform the graft, and you’ll see results before you know it. It may get tougher again after that, but you know what that means? It means you’re now on the next level and have to build up again. And how we work through the peaks, troughs and plateaus is how we chisel ourselves into something else. That repetition is the key, as it will create new habits, and help you achieve what you couldn’t before.
